Solar Motion Detector Light
A solar motion detector light is a great
solution to feel safer at night. Most modesl have a variety of
settings to choose from.
Some are sensitive enough to detect
motion from 25 feet away. That can be a good thing, but also
result in the light going on when there is some wind, and
vegetation is moving about a bit.
Benefits of a solar motion detector light
versus a regular electrical motion sensor outdoor lighting.
Pros:
Mobility The great thing
with the solar powered motion lights is that they are very
mobile. You can move them anywhere you want them to be in your
yard. The only thing to make sure, of course is that they are
in the sun dusing the day so they can be charged.
Cost Effective
A solar powered light is not dependent on your utility company
and is therfore free to operate.
Cons:
The need for sun The
battery will need some 6 hours of sunlight per day. Days with
rain or clouds can leave the battery drained, and the solar
powered motion light will not light up when expected to. The
need for sun can also limit the locations where the lights can
be placed. Some models come with a remote charger, meaning the
charger can be placed in the sun and cgharge properly even
though the light itself is located where there never is direct
sun. Plan carefully!
Price The price for a
solar motion detector light is higher than for electrical
lights. The price may be offset with the convenience of not
having to run cords, and being able to move the light around
easily. there is also no operating cost.
Do some thinking about what you will need
from your solar powered light. Will you need flexible settings
in order to not have many "false alarms" from leaves or
branches moving in the wind?
Where will the lights go? Will there be
enough sun there? Are there animals visiting your yard at night
who will repeatedly set off your lights?
There is most definitely a perfect solar
motion detection light out there that will fit your needs.
